What inspires you to teach?

Keeping me in the practice of doing yoga inspires me to teach. I also love seeing people unfold in their own practice, especially when they don’t have the confidence at first and then they realize what their body can do when it is nurtured and supported.

Where do you teach?

I teach at the Lotus Oasis Retreat center and at the Durango Martial Arts Academy.  I also lead retreats in beautiful tropical locations like Mexico and Hawaii.

More about Charlotte:

I was introduced to yoga and meditation when I was fourteen through a siddha yoga center in the Bahamas. I have practiced off and on throughout most of my life. As my vision to create a health and wellness retreat  came into focus, I knew I wanted to become an instructor so that I could teach yoga and meditation at my center. In 2006, I attended the Chopra Center’s yoga retreat in Austin, Texas, at the Crossings – and through davidji, I found what I had been looking for. I’ve been teaching formally since 2008.

How many Chopra Center events have you attended?

Seduction of Spirit twice (I’m about to attend SoS in Sedona!), and Journey into Healing once – plus my teacher training courses at the Chopra Center. It’s hard to choose a favorite but I would say Seduction of Spirit . . . but I really loved Journey into Healing as well.

How do you connect with others in your community?

I offer free meditation classes and introduction evenings to PSM. I also have a free Qigong breathing circle once a month. I do volunteer work to stay connected with the community and have created a community garden to provide food for as many as are willing to work in the garden. I do events at Lotus Oasis Retreats to promote local businesses and support locally made arts and crafts, which we showcase at Lotus Oasis.

What inspires you to teach?

I truly believe that the single most important thing any person can do for themselves is to meditate.  We can make the world better one person at a time by meditating, and by teaching meditation. I have learned many different types of meditation, and I find that Primordial Sound Meditation is so beautiful and profound. I want to do my part to share it with the world!

Where do you teach?

Westlake Village, California, and around the Conejo Valley area . . . and worldwide through my e-mail newsletters!

How many Chopra Center events have you attended?

I can’t even count!  And I’ve loved each and every one.  I cherish my experiences with the Chopra Center – there’s nothing better!

What was your favorite event?

It has to be Seduction of Silence.  Not only was it fabulous in every single way, but that’s where I met my husband!  And I also loved the most recent Sages and Scientists Symposium. I ended up making four really great videos from my interviews with the various scientists there.  The videos are posted on my youtube.com/coffeytalk channel.

How do you connect with others in your community?

I do a lot of work with non-profit organizations, especially those that serve foster kids.  I’ve been a volunteer, and I mentor teen-age girls in the foster-care system. I find that this is a great way to meet like-minded, big-hearted people who really care about making a difference in our community.
