Special Guest Performer: Frank Lazzaro

Frank Lazzaro has been drumming since age 10 and involved in hand drumming and drum circles since moving to San Diego in 1986. Frank was fortunate to study with Babatunde Olatunji at workshops in Big Sur's Esalen Institute. Frank has since hewn his skills on the djembe and has performed with many groups, including Drums of Fire, led by Paulo Mattioli; Fore-Fote with master drummer Lamino Dibo Camara; and his current group Damaru. He is also a staff instructor at World Beat Cultural Center.

Frank has facilitated drum circles thorughout the West, and toured extensively as a member of Drum Café. Frank has led circles for many groups in the San Diego area, including corporate, spiritual, and other large events. He also conducts a monthly circle in Encinitas at Meyoma studio. For Frank, drumming has opened up a whole world of possibilities, relationships, and opportunities to connect with others, and the universe. It always comes back to the rhythm, and his motto is simple: "Happiness is drumming!”

Special Guest Performers: High Society Jazz Band

The High Society Jazz Band has been entertaining audiences and attracting fans around San Diego and beyond since the early 1980s. Whether performing at clubs, at Jazz Festivals, or at private events, the band is loved by listeners and dancers alike.  High Society plays a variety of danceable styles including fresh arrangements of New Orleans and Chicago style jazz, swing, big band, Latin, and even some oldies rock 'n roll!

Janet's versatile singing includes rock, blues, jazz, classical and
more.  She performs regularly with duos, jazz combos, big bands, rock
bands as well as with church choirs.  She's a wonderful performer,
teacher, director, and arranger.  Janet does it all!
