Q: What are the volunteer opportunities at the Chopra Center?
A: The majority of our volunteer needs are on-site at our events. We also have in-office opportunities as well as some special event needs (one day).
Q: What are some of the responsibilities volunteers have on-site at the events?
A: Volunteers assist guests by guiding and greeting them, and support the event team to manage all event needs including set up, registration, hosting, ushering, and various office projects.
Q: What is the time commitment for volunteering at events?
A: For those volunteering at on-site events the commitment is anywhere from 4 to 8 days depending on the event. Volunteers are required to attend set up day (which is the day before the event) and then serve on either an AM or PM shift for the duration of the event. Shifts are typically 6 – 8 hours.
Q: Do I get to experience or participate in the program while volunteering?
A: Volunteers are considered a member of the staff while on-site. During your shift your assignments may limit how much time you would be able to be in the general session. Volunteers are welcome to attend most of the scheduled program when not on their shift.
Q: How much does it cost to volunteer?
A: Volunteering is FREE and comes with our deepest gratitude. We also provide T-shirts and event gift bags as well as lunches on event days.
Q: I live outside the San Diego area. What are the housing options?
A: Volunteers can take advantage of the Chopra Center group rate at Omni La Costa Resort & Spa at $189 a night, plus daily fees and taxes, per night when there is availability. Often volunteers share rooms or stay off-site at other hotels. You may speak with the volunteer coordinator about additional options.
Q: What are the steps I need to take to become a volunteer?
A: The first step is to complete the volunteer application. After your application is received, the volunteer coordinator will contact you about the next step.
