Last month Namasté invited readers to share photos and stories of your conscious pets – and we were touched by the many responses we received. Rather than featuring only one pet this month, we’ve created a collage of the submissions and will make a donation to the Carlsbad Animal Shelter in their honor.
Please continue to send us your stories and animal photos for the Conscious Pet Feature!
Pat Andjelkovic remembers Daisy, the loving dog he found shivering behind a dumpster on a rainy December day in Belgrade: “We all miss Daisy, and perhaps I do most of all. I still sense her presence, and know she is not far away.”
“My cat Grigio is a wonderful teacher who doesn’t let chronic illness stop him from running, hunting and sleeping in the trees of the Big Island of Hawaii.” –Dhiresha McCarver
Jack is a rescue cat living with his adoring human, Amy Fearing, in Arizona. “Jack has a special place in my heart . . . I've always believed animals are as much spiritual beings as we are.”
“Kitsune is a spitz-poodle mix whose name is Japanese for fox or ‘kiss of joy.’ Her devotion warms my heart and shows me the meaning of unconditional love!” –Margi Gates
Every morning Judi Maloy meditates with her beloved rescue cat, Gremlin. “ He’s normally very rambunctious, but during the 30-minute meditation, he quietly takes his seat and doesn't even purr. When the chime of my meditation timer chimes sounds, he waits for a bit of love and then gets up to resume his playful life.”
Cashew Maghoo is a six-year-old white pekingese. “My little Man Maghoo is truly a joy and one of God’s little creatures with whom I have the honor and gratitude of sharing my life.” –Julie Ann Smith.
“My golden retriever, Shammy, does a fantastic Downward Facing Dog and Plank, but I was shocked when I looked over and he was Threading the Needle! If we just paid attention to the animals that surround us, and do what they do, we would be so much happier.” –Karen Owens
"My cat, Screamer, is a real talker and has true insight when you aren’t feeling well. After my triple bypass, she was constantly nearby.” –Linda Pruss
“Moki Hana is five furry pounds of love! My dog is the sweetest little living fur ball and provides me with so much laughter!” –Marilyn Carr
“Chloe, my shepard-lab-chow mix, is more than a dog. She is a constant reminder of unconditional love, to have a happy outlook on life and a fun loving spirit, to live simply, and to be authentically who you are.” –Robyn McKenry
“Oliver is an Italian greyhound who has taught me so much about being in the moment. He doesn’t hold a grudge or give me the cold shoulder when I’ve been away at work for the day . . . he is just overjoyed to be able to spend time with me again.” –Ronda Laser
