A Word from Dr. Simon: The Seven Spiritual Laws of Yoga

The essence of yoga is awakening to who you really are – your true nature. You are not a bundle of conditioned reflexes; you are not, in the words of Alan Watts, a “skin-encapsulated ego” separated from your environment. At your core you are pure consciousness, inextricably connected to the universal intelligence that brings the Unmanifest into manifestation.

Yoga offers a time-proven path for accessing this underlying field of consciousness, the source of all creativity, fulfillment, and abundance. Yoga poses help release the tensions and stresses that inhibit the free flow of intelligence, while cultivating body centered awareness. Established in this state of being, your internal reference point shifts from constriction to expansion and you are able to align with the creative flow of nature.

In these tumultuous times, yoga can provide an anchor to a quieter domain of life, enabling you to stay connected to your natural humanity. While some may turn to alcohol, drugs, food, television, or other addictions to temporarily escape the stresses of their lives, yoga practice teaches us how to navigate calmly through the turbulence. And when you are feeling physically vital, emotionally stable, and psychologically centered, your ability and desire to love and express authentic compassion expands.

The Seven Spiritual Laws support the essence of yoga – a science of balanced living and a path for realizing full human potential. Integrating the Seven Laws into your daily yoga practice will help you focus your deepest intentions to live a life abundant in joy, well-being, love, and meaning. Notice the unlimited possibilities inherent in your innate bodily wisdom. Use your breath to awaken the Law of Giving. Commit to a practice of Least Effort, using your life force impeccably. Set your intention to enhance integration between your thoughts, feelings, words, and action – and you will witness the support of nature in your life.

With love,
David
