Debra McCormick is Australia’s first Vedic Master, trained and certified by The Chopra Center as an instructor in Primordial Sound Meditation, Perfect Health, and The Seven Spiritual Laws of Yoga.
Based in Sydney, Debra teaches throughout Australia, Canada, and around the world, offering individual classes as well as assisting at various Chopra Center programs. In fact, just last month at the Seduction of Spirit meditation retreat in Dublin, Ireland, she led daily yoga sessions and taught many participants the powerful practice of Primordial Sound Meditation.
“For many years I have traveled wherever my spirit calls me, and this has led me to become a teacher, helping others find where their own spirit is calling them,” said Debra. “I believe that the answers we seek are always within ourselves. If we can ask the question, then we already have the answer . . . sometimes we just need someone to help us tune into our inner guidance, truth, and spirit.
My life has shown me that there is a divine plan and that the universe is always supporting us and providing us with exactly what we need in order for our spirit to evolve. I grew up in a very abusive, difficult environment, raised by a foster family in Australia. I survived my upbringing, and what it taught me was to embrace life and all its offerings, for even the sorrows and painful challenges help us along our evolutionary path.”
In 2006, Debra founded her company, Soul Inspiration, offering instruction in Primordial Sound Meditation, Perfect Health, and The Seven Spiritual Laws of Yoga – as well as classes in shamanism, crystal healing, medicine wheels, and other aspects of spiritual growth. In addition to her expertise as a Vedic Master, Debra has strong credentials in business and organizational development. She served in the Royal Australian Navy for 10 years, then in 1997 she entered the corporate world, where she has held various positions in general and financial management in the information and technology sector. She completed her MBA at Macquarie University in Sydney in 2005.
For more than 17 years, Debra has been a volunteer with Camp Quality Australia, a charity that supports families with children who have cancer. She also donates 5 percent of Soul Inspiration’s course and product revenue to Camp Quality. “Through this program, we are literally putting the laughter back into these children’s lives and helping them heal their own spirits,” she said.
