Just one year since its launch, the Chopra Center’s 21-Day Meditation Challenge™ has drawn an overwhelming response, with more than 133,000 bold adventurers embracing the challenge to meditate every day for 21 days. While meditation is a most intimate act of connecting with one’s innermost Self, the Meditation Challenge paradoxically has inspired the creation of a global community sharing the desire for expanded peace, harmony, laughter, and love. In the Summer Meditation Challenge that just concluded, participants from 167 countries on 6 continents experienced the many gifts of meditation as we connected with each other on our Facebook community page; shared our stories, breakthroughs, and aha! moments; and supported everyone in completing the challenge and developing a solid foundation for a life-long meditation practice.
The guiding voice of the Meditation Challenge is davidji, the dean of Chopra Center University and a lead meditation teacher who has taught thousands of people how to meditate. For the Summer Meditation Challenge, he was joined by some of the Chopra Center staff members who are certified as instructors of Primordial Sound Meditation. Together, they created a 21-day meditation program around the theme of creating your Soul Profile – exploring who you are, what you really want, and discovering your true purpose in life. Each day, participants received a free guided audio meditation and instruction based on the timeless teachings of the Chopra Center.
Inspiring Messages from Meditators
We are deeply grateful to everyone who participated and shared their individual energy to this collective experience intended to create more peace within and peace in the world. Here are just a few of the beautiful messages we’ve received from participants:
“I have always wanted to try meditating and this has been the perfect introduction to it. I am a recovering alcoholic. I am in AA and just celebrated a year of sobriety. Part of the 12 steps of AA is praying and meditating. So this has all come together for me. It has taught me to meditate and really there are a lot of similarities between what AA teaches and what you guys have taught in the summer challenge. To say that this has been a life changing event would not do it justice. It has changed the way I feel about myself and the world around me. It is like looking at the world with a new pair of eyes. And it is something my sweetheart and I have done together so it's has brought us just that much closer and it feels wonderful to be in this new way of life together. We have even started doing yoga together. So thank you for helping to get me started on this new way of life. I already feel the blessings and goodness in my life.” ~ J.G.
“Wonderful. Thanks again for such an uplifting experience. I was not in the best place when I started this challenge and truly feel I have found myself again. I would meditate and know exactly what I needed or had to do about certain situations. Much love to everyone involved.” ~H.M.
“I was a long time off the path of meditation and deepening the thoughts and growth of my heart, body, mind, spirit and music. This was JUST the right thing at the right time. . . . BUT the one thing that was so great for me was the doing this in COMMUNITY. I really hope that you will continue you to do more challenges for us all to do them together. I know that many will be meditating everyday still but it's just the idea of doing it in community that was SO supportive. The advanced as well as the novice meditator all in one gorgeous huge pot of rich spirit and the resulting amazing lights of energy that come out of that pot and encircle us all and the world.” ~ A. P.
“I just want say thank you from the bottom of my heart for all the wonderful meditations!! For the 21 day meditation process and all the meditations . . . It is so absolutely wonderful to be connected with so many people all around the world, meditating together! God bless you!” ~ C.A.
