Hello, I’m
Mary Baker

Certified Yoga of the Heart Instructor & Certified Yoga4Cancer Teacher
Mary has been a teacher for most of her adult life – teaching summer camp in college and then becoming a credentialed elementary teacher for many years. Teaching yoga, however, is truly the best teaching experience she can imagine! Students come to yoga class wanting to learn, eager to explore, and are happy to be there!! Mary loves to connect with her students on a personal level, to help them find greater comfort and ease in their bodies, and to guide them on their yogic journey as their practice deepens.

Yoga has been a true life saver for Mary – she began her 200-hour teacher training in 2009, the same year both of her parents were diagnosed with terminal cancers. Mary credits her yoga practice with giving her the physical, mental, and spiritual strength she needed to face such a challenging time. She truly believes that yoga gives us the courage to face our fears, the flexibility to embrace change, and the present mind awareness to find joy in each and every day.

Mary completed her 500 hour yoga teacher training in 2013 with True Nature School of Yoga. She then completed a specialized 100 hour “Yoga of the Heart” cardiac and cancer certification. This was to fulfill a calling she had to help those living with cancer (and heart disease) and their caregivers. She has also completed an additional 50 hours of training in Yoga4Cancer - a technique developed by cancer survivor and master teacher, Tari Prinster.

In addition to being one of the owners of Be Well and teaching their Yoga for Cancer Recovery classes, Mary also teaches yoga at Yoga branch Vista Village in Vista, CA; Yoga Branch in Vista, CA; Re:form Yoga in Carlsbad, CA; Black Sheep Yoga in Oceanside, CA; and multiple 24 Hour Fitness locations. Mary currently teaches a Be Well Yoga for Cancer class Thursdays at Yoga Six in Carlsbad.

When she is not teaching, she loves to spend her time in the kitchen baking tasty treats to share with others. She also enjoys ocean kayaking, snow skiing, and curling up on the couch with a good book and her warm furry friends.
