Brad Gooch is the author of Flannery: A Life of Flannery O’Connor, which was a National Book Critics Circle Award finalist, a New York Times Notable Book of the Year, and a New York Times bestseller. His previous books include Finding the Boyfriend Within; City Poet: The Life and Times of Frank O’Hara; and Godtalk: Travels in Spiritual America. He has also written three novels, a collection of stories, and a collection of poems.

A Guggenheim fellow in Biography, Brad has received a National Endowment for the Humanities fellowship, and a Furthermore grant in publishing from the J.M. Kaplan Fund. A professor of English at William Paterson University, he earned his Ph.D at Columbia University, and lives in New York City. His memoir is forthcoming from Harper in Winter 2015, and he is currently writing a biography of the Sufi poet and mystic Rumi for Harper Collins.
