Question: How do I keep my mind from racing during my yoga practice?
Answer: First, be clear about your intentions prior to your yoga practice: Do you want to experience relaxation, calm, or strength? Happiness, peace of mind, focus? Bring that desire into your heart and mind. As you bring your desires to conscious awareness, surrender. Release your intentions as you move through your postures, trusting that things are exactly as they are for a reason.
Remind yourself to practice present moment awareness through each posture. When thoughts come in, as they inevitably will, don’t worry or become consumed by them. Instead, gently sink back into the pose, bringing your attention back to the here and now. Being present will empower your intentions and desires to manifest through your yoga practice into your life.
