Enlightened Being Award

The first winner is Robert A. Johnson!

The Chopra Center is pleased to name Robert A. Johnson the winner of our Enlightened Being Award.  For many decades, Robert Johnson has been recognized as a world-renowned Jungian analyst, lecturer, and best-selling author of many books, including He: Understanding Masculine Psychology, She: Understanding Feminine Psychology, and Active Imagination: Using Dreams and Active Imagination for Personal Growth.

In his beautiful autobiography, Balancing Heaven and Earth, Robert describes his life-long pursuit of inner work that began with a near-death experience when he was eleven. In a state of expanded awareness, he glimpsed the Golden World, a vision of a heavenly realm beyond ordinary consciousness. This transformative experience was the beginning of his spiritual quest.

Shortly after World War II, Robert’s search for wisdom led him to Zurich, Switzerland, where he attended the first classes ever offered at the C.G. Jung Institute. There he studied with pioneers of analytical psychology such as Emma Jung, Jolande Jacobi, and Marie-Louise Von Franz – and met with famed psychiatrist Carl Jung.

The Chopra Center honors Robert Johnson for his profound contributions in the field archetypal psychology, dream analysis, the study of myth, and the exploration of the collective unconscious.

Nominate an Enlightened Being

In the Chopra Center’s continuing quest to raise the level of balance, healing, and transformation on the planet, we recognize that there are some very special people out there who are our inspirers, our role models, our archetypes, our heroes. To honor those people in your life, the Chopra Center is announcing The Enlightened Being Award, where you get the opportunity to nominate someone you believe is a force for inspiration in your life and the lives of others.

We will begin accepting submissions today, and we will announce the first Enlightened Being Award in our April Agni. In 250 words or less (that’s no more than one page – all submissions longer than one page will not be reviewed), explain why this individual should receive the Enlightened Being Award. Why are they special? What challenges have they overcome? Who do they inspire? What are their creations? Over the course of 2009, we will select and celebrate four individuals. At the end of the year, Namasté readers will vote on the Enlightened Being of the Year.

What do those selected as Enlightened Beings receive?

In recognition of this global honor, the winner of the Enlightened Being Award will receive an ALL EXPENSES PASS to any Chopra Center event in 2009. We will fly you there, put you up in a VIP hotel room in the hotel, reserve a front row seat for you at the event of your choice, and feature you in Namasté. So please begin submitting your candidates now!

Submit your nomination by sending an email to EBA@chopra.com
