Creative Dreaming

I recently had the great pleasure of meeting with Robert Johnson, the renowned Jungian therapist and author of the great classics, He, She, We, and Ecstasy. As I was describing my latest book, Free to Love, Free to Heal, he told me that Carl Jung would often say, ‘Your dream is your prescription.”

Dreams emerge from the deep creative source within our awareness, encouraging us to “live large.” Although it is easy to become enmeshed in the day-to-day challenges of life, our inner artist wants to see the world with new eyes – the eyes of a dreamer.

The meditative process is a type of conscious dreaming. The expanded dream-like experience in meditation enables us to transcend our usual, conditioned associations, allowing us to see things that are usually hidden from our awareness. Looking within and learning to see with the eyes of the soul is the foundation of creativity.

The spiritual path encourages us to expand our sense of self and our repertoire of responses. Nature’s inherent creativity generates the rich sounds, sensations, sights, tastes, and smells that nurture our senses and minds. As we learn to quiet our inner turbulence, new insights, perceptions, and opportunities emerge from the depths of consciousness, and we co-create beautiful experiences with nature.

With love,
David
