Established in partnership with the world-renowned Chopra Center for Wellbeing, the Chopra Addiction and Wellness Center offers powerful addiction recovery and wellness to help people return to their natural state of wholeness and wellbeing.

Carlsbad, California — October 6, 2012—Paradise Valley Wellness Centre, a Canadian-based residential treatment facility for people suffering from addiction and trauma, announced today that it is changing its name to Chopra Addiction and Wellness Center, effective immediately.

The name change reflects the ongoing partnership between the addiction center and the world-renowned Chopra Center for Wellbeing. The Chopra Addiction and Wellness Center will continue to offer powerful addiction recovery and wellness programs that combine the latest therapeutic techniques in modern Western medicine with the traditional healing arts of the East. The treatment programs are based on the principles developed by the Chopra Center’s co-founders, Deepak Chopra, M.D. and David Simon, M.D. and described in their popular book Freedom from Addiction.

Nirmala Raniga, who founded Paradise Valley in partnership with the Chopra Center in 2009, will continue to serve as the director of the Chopra Addiction and Wellness Center, located in Squamish, British Columbia.

“What makes us unique is our holistic approach to healing,” explained Raniga. “In addition to the deep work that is done in individual and group therapy sessions, and the expertise of our medical staff and therapists, the daily routine at the Chopra Addiction and Wellness Center is based on the principles of Ayurvedic medicine and includes regular practices of yoga and meditation, a vegetarian diet, twice weekly massages, art therapy, and acupuncture sessions,” she said.

“For many years there have been so many intense debates in the field of addiction, including whether addition is physical, mental, genetic, or a choice,” said Deepak Chopra.

“In our experience at the Chopra Center, we know that all of these influences can play an important role both in developing and overcoming addiction. For this reason, we developed with Nirmala an addiction and emotional wellness program that encompasses all aspects of a person and their individual lifestyle, including the mind, body, spirit, community, and environment. It has been an extremely effective approach, and we are excited about our continuing partnership with the Chopra Addiction and Wellness Center,” Dr. Chopra said.
